Illang (Lữ Đoàn Sói) được chuyển thể từ phim hoạt hình ăn khách Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade của Nhật hồi năm 1999.  Phim lấy bối cảnh tương lai, xoay quanh quyết định thống nhất Nam - Bắc Hàn sau bảy năm đàm phán. Để phản đối việc sáp nhập, những phần tử khủng bố liên kết thành tổ chức lớn, liên tục nổi dậy, ngăn chặn và chống phá. Trước sự hỗn loạn, chính phủ lập lực lượng cảnh sát đặc biệt nhằm đối phó với các phần tử quá khích.  Im Jung Kyung (Kang Dong Won) - sĩ quan cảnh sát tinh nhuệ trong đội chống khủng bố.
